Long time no post ~ a long overdue update

August 5, 2012

The fight goes on. Sadly I have resorted to using a small dose of prednisone and antihistamine. (A medication called Temeril-P) I had weaned her down to a 1/4 tablet once a day but then she had a flare up. Because of the low dose and (I think) a new food change she has finally had some fur grow back on her chest recently. I also got a new faucet so bathing her in the kitchen sick has made it easier (on my back) to bathe her more frequently. The food is the fish formula of Earthborn Holistic. Here she is earlier today in the yard.

Not to shabby! (knock on wood)

Just thought I'd post a few updated photos. I'm not ready to celebrate just yet. But I am happy she looks better. Aside from her anti-inflamatory injection last tuesday, the only thing I have changed has been her food. One of her meals daily is now the Honest Kitchen Zeal formula. (It will be two meals a day once my order comes in, using trial sizes for now.) I also added their supplement "Sparkle" once daily. She is not taking anything else at this time. I know she might still be under the effect of the injection however so we'll see how it goes. I am also continuing using the lavendar and olive oil rub nightly on her bad spots. (Neck, ears and front legs) I think that is why her neck looks so good already.

Photo's below are from yesterday:

OK this post is a little backwards. The photos below show what she looked like when I got home from work tonight. (earlier photos from today are posted below these) She is back to being super red and itching herself raw again. I am officially taking a break and going back to conventional medicine for awhile. It's been 2 months and I need a mental break. I will be changing her food as well. I might keep up with this photo blog or not. I'm unsure at this point. It might be helpful to take a break from this too. I will definitely be in to get her titers checked and when she is more comfortable I may try the homeopathic route again. Thank you for everything so far. Hopefully this is just a temporary break in our path. I just need to get her comfortable again, whatever that takes.

She is still a little itchy today but less red. Her neck was a little gooey this am so I used some lavender oil and water and misted her red areas. It was dry at lunchtime. Photos below taken at 1:00pm. I'm not sure if I should re-dose with the thuja or not. I will wait and see how she looks at dinner time.

Sunday June 12, 2011

She definately looks worse today. Her neck is more gooey and she was also itchy. I re-dosed with the thuja at about 5:00 pm and gave her an oatmeal rinse. Photos taken about 4:00pm before the rinse.

Thuja 30c given at about 1:30. I realized later (after reading instructions fully on bottle) I probably gave incorrectly. Gina said to go ahead and dose again. That time I dissolved 3 tabs in water and gave slowly with a syringe in the mouth at about 11:00 pm. Photos below taken about 2:30pm. Her neck is a little gooey and she was itchy today. I did an oatmeal rinse earlier in the day and did a lavendar/olive oil rub in the evening.

Her neck is actually dry and flaky today. She is also a little less red than this morning. Photos below taken at about 12:30pm.

Thursday June 9, 2011

Days like this make me want to cry. She was ok this morning and when I came home for lunch. At lunch I did use some apple cider vinegar and water mix on her neck. This morning I had used the lavendar oil on her neck and ears. By the time I came home from work she looked much worse. Her legs started to goo up (the front of them) and she is much redder. She also had goopy eyes. The rash is also more predominant on her legs and feet than it was. And she is acting very quiet. I am going to use an oatmeal rinse on her tonight. (as soon as I finish this post) I will be calling in tomorrow. Photos taken about 6pm.

I used some lavendar/olive oil rub on her neck and ears before I left for work. (after using a cool cloth on her neck to clean up the goo) Photos below taken at about 7am:

**P.S. The oatmeal rinse did take away some of the redness.
